The Action Congress of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Chapter has congratulated Governor Godswill Akpabio on his resounding victory at the just concluded governorship elections and urged other political parties to deepen democracy by accepting the outcome of the elections.
In a solidarity message to Chief Akpabio, yesterday at Government House, Uyo, and signed by the state Chairman, Chief Aniekan Akpan, the party said her members chose to accept the result of the governorship election in Akwa Ibom State as representing the wishes of the people freely and fairly expressed in the election of April 26.
“I advise all members of our party/candidates, as democrats, to accept the result of the 2011 elections which has been globally adjudged as the freest and fairest in the history of our country and in the interest of the unity, progress and peaceful co-existence of our state and nation”,Chief Akpan said
Responding, Governor Godswill Akpabio described the solidarity visit as a humble moment in the history of democracy in Nigeria as opponents came and congratulated the winner without carrying arms to kill, destroy property and reject results of election.

ReplyDeleteWhat we've not heard is how much Akpabio paid the ACN chairman to capitulate. Isn't it strange that the Governorship candidate of the party is still insisting that the election was rigged while the party chairman all of a sudden is congratulating Akpabio? I'm sure we've not heard the last of this.

ReplyDeleteAkwa Ibom is my state and I remain grateful to the ACN chairman and his lieutenants for towing this line. This is commendable and highly reccommended for the other opposition parties to follow. I call on Gov. Godswil to appreciate this gesture and form an all inclusive government.

ReplyDeleteIf truely the congratulatory letter was from ACN, then it was out of fear, and may therefore means they are backing out even in the remaining LGA elections.

ReplyDeleteAKPABIO,have a lot to show to the WORLD,that he,worked,to uplift the leaving standand,of the People,of that STATE,unlike DELTA STATE,were a CHILD,who,is wrongly beaten is asked under Mr.PRESIDENT,secret CONSTITUTION,not to cry out. In the present DELTA STATE,there is almost nothing like integrity, because the pride, that use to accompany the indegines or the SONs and DAUGHTERs,is on the decrease, why ?. The Government, that is rigged into office, will only see wrongs as right, because that was how it came on board . NIGERIANs,in diaspora all over the World, are under pressure due to bad leadership,so is the People,of DELTA STATE,in their own Native NIGERIA. What a pitty...................................................................................................

ReplyDeleteWe should learn to read between the lines. Let us not in any way leave our thinking cap. I do not think the congratulatory message means the party accepts the election results but is a way of getting its members free from incarceration! Let us follow the event as it unfolds.

ReplyDeleteSuch arrant spirit of sportsmanship (so u called it) cannot be tolerated after lives and properties meant to better the lives of the masses were destroyed.
The game plan is to come back to the good books of the governor knowing it's his last tenure.
For the sake of the dead and considering that all that were destroyed belong to the very masses that have suffered the most, justice and nothing else must prevail. People with violent tendencies must not be allowed to govern or lead. It should be a message to all politicians, and they must stop playing the impoverished masses (even though it's the stupid and hungry ones that willingly submit themselves to be used and dumped) like puns in a chess game.

ReplyDeleteFor the souls that were lost.....I hope the dead can hear and see...how painful they will feel...for killing each other for stupid reason....and for those who sang tribal war songs....SHAME to U all...Udoedehe had always been an opportunist and a thug and same goes for the men in his campaing train (Victor Attah & his son inlaw et. al). Udoedehe and ACN members in AKS must be re-arressted and made to replace all properties lost in that mayhem. As for the living its time people get wiser so as to die wisely.....A big congratulation to GOA
