A cycling passerby on the parade route of dignitaries attending Pres. Yoweri Museveni’s swearing-in, was senselessly killed by the Ugandan  police who were forcefully repressing protestors and members of the opposition along the ceremonial route.

Reports from the scene described how the delegation of Nigerian Pres. Goodluck Jonathan fell under a volley of stones as it passed after the swearing-in ceremony in Kampala. Mr.Jonathan Goodluck was first to arrive at the inauguration ceremony at 10:30 AM Ugandan time.
Mr. Jonathan was pelted with stones in the Zana neighborhood of Kampala, it was reported, as he made his way to the Presidential Villa in Entebbe and then back to Abuja.
Eyewitnesses told SaharaReporters that the Ugandan shot at the scene had been riding his bicycle apparently unaware of the tight security around the incoming leaders. Police, who were firing teargas in a failed attempt at crowd control, may have believed the cyclist was part of a wider plot to attack African heads of states that came to attend the inauguration.
As the inauguration proceeded, thousands of Ugandans filled the streets to welcome  Kizza Besigye, leader of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change, who had been in Kenya for treatment of injuries sustained during a recent march against high prices.
Ugandan opposition members have been locked a battle of wits against Mr. Museveni's repressive regime since the four-term leader won the latest disputed elections.
Museveni has been in power for 25 years and changed the constitution several times to enable him remain in power after rigging national elections.
Mr. Besigye described today’s inauguration as the "inauguration of a fraudulent president"
Mr. Jonathan reportedly left Uganda after the incident, skipping the dinner for visiting heads of governments at the presidential lodge in Entebbe.
