LAGOS – Wema Bank Plc’s head office in Lagos, yesterday, was gutted by fire which emanated from the power generating set.
However, the bank was unable to ascertain the cost of damage that might have occurred as a result of the fire at press time.
A statement signed by the head, Corporate Communication, Wema Bank, Mr. Femi Adeniran, said: “Whilst no lives were lost during the incident, we wish to commend the prompt response and effort of the Lagos State and Federal Fire Service, The Nigeria Police and our colleagues in the neighbouring banks who came out to lend their support in ensuring that the fire was brought under total control in good time.”
While assuring the public not to panic, he said: “We also wish to assure the public that the bank has put in place necessary measures to mitigate the impact of such occurrences and that the fire would in no way adversely affect operations of the bank.
